An ultimate guide to revamping your bath spaces

Text: Mr. Anil Ahuja, Managing Director, Colston Bath and Spa Pvt. Ltd

Bathrooms are intimate spaces that relax and refresh one’s mind and body to re-energise them. Thus, redecorating old bathrooms is always a good idea.

  • Begin with the faucets and bath panels

Upgrading the taps make the baths and basins look new and fresh, but one must always check the material and its quality to ensure efficiency. Choose amongst ball, disc or cartridge faucets depending on the space and decor. Replace old bath panels with wood in a sleek modern and dark wood finish, as it creates a strong design.

  • Upgrade the lighting scheme

Lighting enhances the bathroom’s ambience for an impactful and rejuvenating space, and a simple low-energy LED wall fitting against a backlit mirror creates warm hues for a comfortable and strong environment.

  • Restore order

Reorganising makes bath spaces more efficient, as a wall-mounted cabinet saves space and is low-maintenance over a floor-standing one. Rails, hooks and shower caddies save space as compared to door hooks. Introduce planters for a calming and comforting feel, such as over countertops for an earthy and affordable option.

  • Splashing monotonous colors

Neutral colours in bath spaces create a soothing ambience, such as combining pastel colours with white lends balance to the colour scheme. Also, cool colours like pastel blue and green lend a relaxing character to the space.

  • Incorporating aromatherapy

Diffusers and humidifiers cleanse the air in the bathroom and spread natural fragrances, such as lavender rose and jasmine. They reduce stress levels and induce tranquillity in the mind, which can be done by lighting candles infused with essential oils.

  • Add extra space

Huge mirrors create the illusion of a larger space in a small bathroom, as this bounces more light around even with a limited amount of natural light. A tiled backsplash with geometric patterns, shimmering glass or metallic tiles creates a major point in bath spaces.

  • Add cost-effective flooring

The bathroom floor can be refreshed with user-friendly peel-and-stick tiles, which are available in various textures and colours. Non-slip-backed bathroom rugs add a stylish splash to a dull bathroom floor and are available for the living room as well.
