Ar. S. Gopakumar awarded the Baburao Mhatre Gold Medal Award 2020

Kerala-based architect, Ar. S. Gopakumar was awarded the Baburao Mhatre Gold Medal Award 2020 by the Indian Institute of Architects for his exemplary contribution to Indian architecture. National President of the IIA, Ar. Divya Kush conferred the award on July 12, 2020.

The principal architect of Kochi-based Kumar Group Total Designers, Ar. S. Gopakumar is the first awardee from Kerala. He said that it was a privilege to receive the award and be included among the top names in architecture. He added that it motivates him to work harder and see India as a place for modern architecture.

In the past, the Baburao Mhatre Gold Medal Award has been given to stalwarts such as Padma Shri Ar. Achyut Kanvinde, Padma Vibhushan Ar. Charles Correa, Padma Shri Ar. B.V. Doshi and Padma Shri Ar. Laurie Baker, to name a few. Established in 1917, the IIA has more than 20,000 architects as members and contributes to architecture in India.
