Black-and-white design for Mumbai salon

Mumbai-based Baxi Architects has designed 44, The salon, a commercial project spread over 680 sq. ft. with a modern theme. The client brief was to create a safe space for visitors with a cohesive style of colors, décor, furniture, and lighting. The flow is from the busy reception area into the luxurious peace of a treatment room. A black exterior with a golden sign attracts the attention of passers-by.

A simple design of black and white is chosen for the salon, albeit with a hint of elegance. One enters a black marble reception table with a white backdrop and reaches a set of black leather chairs in the waiting area. One furthers walks in to see a series of black leathers set before full-length mirrors, which further visually expand the space.

Black and white Satvario marble tiles are used for the flooring, while simple rectangular mirrors are enhanced with Satvario-finished glazed acrylic panels and backlights. A false ceiling gives a modern look, and PVC laminate gives a clean look. Cove and panel lights are used to illuminate the salon, with quartz onyx and metal used in other parts of the salon.
