Bohemian living room for New Delhi apartment
New Delhi-based Villa Ortiga has designed the Residence at E-555, which is a luxury urban apartment that incorporates green. The firm had prepared a lookbook and furniture inventory, designed the home uses clean and straight lines while maintaining a bold playfulness. The ecological design retains the existing flora through trees and shrubs, along with terrace gardens and balconies. The spaces are efficiently for ventilation and Vaastu Shastra, thus maintaining a continuous flow between the living area, kitchen, three bedrooms and a study lounge.
The living room maintains a Bohemian feel with navy-blue sofas and brightly-coloured cushions, a geometrically-patterned daybed, wooden chairs and a leather-upholstered centre table. The design language also includes mirrors on the wall, which are unified by a decorative rug and an indoor plant. Moving to the dining room, it has a vertically-striped ochre-and-white feature wall adorned with an ornate square mirror as a backdrop to the rectangular square table. Surrounded by wooden chairs and an upholstered chair on both ends, the space is illuminated by the central chandelier.
The minimalistic and functional kitchen features a monochromatic colour palette of oakwood, mirrors and white lacquer-finished panels along with granite walls and countertops. High-end brands such as the German companies Villeroy and Boch are used to maintain elegance.
The master bedroom has art pieces, sculptures and metallic patterns. Along with the contrasting patterns of comforters and quilts, the translucent blinds are mixed with opaque curtains. The wall opposite the bed has a sleek wooden console with a Buddha sculpture surrounded by other monolithic figurines. A seating corner is created at one end of the room with two ornamental wooden and cane chairs, an accent table and an opulent silver-framed mirror.
The other bedroom is designed as a recreation zone, where the wall art and central rug embody the theme around black and white stripes. A light wooden console and a foldable wooden seat positioned next to the large window opening out to the balcony, comprise the design language. Warm and indirect natural lighting maintain a comfortable space, along with using exquisite décor sourced from Thailand, South Africa and Morocco; artificial flowers from Paris and art and prints from London.
