Contemporary design for Gurugram apartment

New Delhi-based Storey Tellers has designed The Ultima Residence, which is a 3BHK apartment project on the twenty-fifth floor of a high-rise building. The client wanted a fun and sophisticated home spread over 2100 sq. ft., which resonated with their contemporary design sensibilities.

One is welcomed into the living room with soft pink shades, complemented by the darker-toned backlit entertainment unit. A geometric patterned rug beneath the coffee tables brings a contemporary ambience while matching the traditional wall trim behind the sofa and wall art. Rose-tinted mirrors in gilt metal frames separate the public area into living and dining spaces, and the floor-to-ceiling installation becomes an art piece over a physical barrier.

The dining area is set around a back-painted glass-topped table, a bar unit and a dark-toned display cabinet. The bar has high chairs and looks over the cityscape outside, and the backsplash in both units is finished with rose-tinted mirrors and chrome accents. Gossamer white curtains let in diffused daylight in the common areas, accentuating the room’s spaciousness.

Bedrooms have in-house furniture and fixed cabinetry, and the fluted wall panel in the master bedroom reaches down from the ceiling to the TV console. This extends along the wall and steps up a level to create a floating vanity space, complementing the fluted coral crown moulding above the bed. The guest bedroom has varying shades of blue, with a powder blue on the bed back wall becoming a backdrop for the star-patterned headboard. Following a milky-white palette, a simple lamp is suspended over the work corner looking over the balcony.

The second guest bedroom features a sage green colour, a floor-to-ceiling mirror and a pistachio-coloured round-cornered headboard. Over the headboard, the entire wall has trims in an angled pattern as a design element.
