Coral theme for New Delhi apartment

Furniture: Home Ettu, Walnut Interiors and Paras Timber

Photography: Visuary

Noida-based Studio Meraki has designed the Prateek Edifice, an apartment that is meant to be simple and honest. The family wanted a comforting, uncluttered and effortless space within a restricted budget. The existing 4BHK apartment enjoyed abundant daylight and ventilation through huge fenestrations, enabling panoramic skyline views from the seventeenth floor. Thus, the firm found enormous potential in the well-oriented, spacious and daylit house.

Designed in 2019, the design used ‘Living Coral’ in its scheme, which was the Pantone Colour at the time. The golden-orange shade reflected the need for optimism and joy as a response to social media and technology. Soft furnishings in the lounge and dining areas are arranged around the coral theme in beige and red tones and planters and artwork act as screens. Light-blue undertones highlight the coral theme in water-colour strokes depicting the sky and water by a huge artwork on the adjacent wall.

The living room has blue furniture and yellow walls to create warmth, which is illuminated by orange pendant lighting. A wooden leaf-shaped artwork and a lotus-shaped floor lamp bring in adaptations of natural forms for a positive psychological impact on the human mind. Bedrooms have wooden flooring paired with gold, blue, beige and white.
