Culture-inspired design for Pune office

Photographer: Mukesh Gajjar

Mumbai-based Worksphere Architects has designed the Samsung Office, a commercial project that amalgamated global and regional flavors for the South Korean multinational conglomerate spread over 15,000 sq. ft.

Located on the lower floor of a standalone commercial building surrounded by green trees, the office was split into two levels with the cafeteria planned in a double-volume semi-open space. The presence of foliage was used to its best to plan the cafeteria and breakout areas to provide the team members a direct connection to nature. Semi-open spaces have been created to represent the vibrant Pune culture with the use of customized fabric pieces and a large tree motif in the boardroom. The word ‘Pune’ is written in Devanagari and is highlighted in the town hall area, a design that was later repeated in the other regional offices across India. A floor plate spread over 7000 sq. ft. per floor, the elliptical layout opened up various landscapes to the team.
