Extensive use of terrazzo in Kolkata apartment

New Delhi-based GroupDCA has designed the Shyamkunj Residence in Kolkata, which is a residential apartment project spanning 2500 sq. ft. The client wanted a private space to entertain guests and have intimate get-togethers. The living room features terrazzo flooring extending to the dining space, illuminated with natural light coming in through expansive windows. A balcony brings in the outdoors using planters, offering ample space to host their friends. Textured walls in the living room lend visual interest, while recessed lighting brightens the corners.
The master bedroom has dark wood herringbone floors contrasting with airy curtains and sleek furniture. Instead of a separate dressing room and partitions, the firm created a fluid layout that facilitates movement. The old architecture is blended with new pops of colours and free-flowing forms, along with high-end materials and an upbeat ambience.
