Subtlety is important when working with design and décor, as one mustn’t overload people’s perception of space. Instead, maintaining a healthy line between beauty and clutter better conveys the room’s purpose, proportions and visual flow. One must feel confident and comfortable in their space, which is they must decide what their room must communicate. Here are some methods to enhance your home interiors when on a budget:

• Budget

When designing spaces on a limited budget, always prioritise the living and dining areas. Never redo all the rooms at once, but do them in parts.

• Market trends

One must research the top décor trends through the best architectural and interior design magazines. Make mood boards and collect images, while including colour swatches, paints and fabrics.

• Style sheet

Experiment with one’s favourite designs; for example, baroque calls for bold and luminous colours, glass and crystal accents. Regardless of the theme chosen it must remain seamless and consistent throughout the house.

• Fusion

Combine materials and textures to add interest to the space, but they must look harmonious on the whole. Blend modern with quirky, whites and bright colours and industrial with pastel designs to bring out a playful elegance to the space.
