How to spruce up your interiors this monsoon

Monsoons bring a respite from the scorching summer heat, transforming the landscape into a refreshing oasis. One enjoys the fragrance of moist earth and dewy breezes, and nature brightens up in its greenery. However, the interiors are also at risk of appearing gloomy. Knowing the right colors, textures, and configurations aid the interiors in retaining their character.

  • Bring in the greenery

Taking advantage of the dropping temperatures and increased humidity, indoor plants flourish in this season. Fittonias, monstera obliqua, anthurium, syngonium, and ferns add freshness to the interiors. These plants survive with minimal sunlight and require less maintenance.

  • Use fragrances

One can transform a space’s aroma for a profound impact on the ambiance, and choosing the right fragrance uplifts the mood and counters foul smells due to stagnant rainwater. Scented candles, incense sticks, or essential oils (such as jasmine and moringa) eliminate unpleasant odors.

  • Rethink the interior arrangement

Every season demands a new theme, and every element contributes to the overall aesthetic. Opt for sheer curtains in pastel tones with textured patterns to allow light to enter while adding sophistication to the space. Incorporate cushions, rugs, and carpets with vibrant colors and textures to enhance positivity. Additionally, adorn cane and wicker baskets with throws to add an extra layer of design. Replace understated monotone artwork with vibrant art, and install ambient lighting or mood lighting for warmth in cold environments.

  • Plan your seating spaces

Semi-open areas like balconies enable one to enjoy the monsoon, so choose water-proof furniture and plants. Boston ferns, English ivy, peace lily, areca plan, and spider plants absorb moisture.
