Bespoke design for Surat apartment
Surat-based Parekh Collaborative has designed Blossom in Surat, an apartment interior project spread over 3,300 sq. ft. Natural marble, solid wood, onyx and metal adds opulence to the home, which gives it a restful and comfortable ambience. One enters the space to be greeted by a mirror and Italian marble paneling, plus a parametric design door.
A mandir greets visitors to the open-plan living room, which also connects to the dining area and kitchen. A turquoise-green sofa with pastel-toned leather armchairs and wooden console adds a geometric pattern, with floral motifs forming the backdrop for the TV unit. A custom-made wooden partition screens off public areas from private spaces, such as the kitchen and utility rooms. 3D CNC techniques create paneling and partitions for the living room and master bedroom, which also features dramatic lighting and bespoke furniture pieces.
Digitally-fabricated partition panels and a suspended wooden ceiling using CNC machines along with traditional hand carpentry creates material optimization that reduces waste to zero. An ornamented CNC wall and ceiling panels is combined with warm wood in the master bedroom, while a star-shaped patterned wall adorns the parents’ bedrooms. Bold upholstery, handcrafted pillows and rugs brighten up the neutral walls, which show up the critically-placed artwork.
