Haveli-inspired luxury for Kolkata apartment

Kolkata-based Arredatore Design Studio has designed the Palatial Living In A High-rise, a residential project on the 24th floor of a 45-storied housing complex. Spread over 5,205 sq. ft., the client wanted a home that catered to multiple generations, such as a couple, their octogenarian parents and teenagers.

A haveli-inspired design reflects the client’s Rajasthani heritage, which depicts a warm and inviting feel. In-house handcrafted wooden furniture was created for the living and dining area and parents’ room for a traditional look. Italian marble wall cladding was used for the living and dining area, while mahogany wood pieces with veneers and high-gloss PU finish lend a luxurious ambience.

Curves are combined with straight lines in transitional-style interiors to balance masculine and feminine elements for a practical design. Marble inlay work with semi-precious stones and a carved console are incorporated into the living and dining area. A shoe cabinet at the entrance is designed as a console with decorative lights, mirrorwork and art pieces to maintain positivity. A gold colour palette with golden finish highlights the parents’ art collection displayed all over the house.

Spread over 1,200 sq. ft., the den is bifurcated with an automated sliding partition that displays a wooden perforated screen from the living area and a sandblasted glass design from the den. Automated and security systems such as Google Home Voice Commands, automated curtains, access-controlled automated doors and cameras connect the three generations.
