Metal screens inspired by arches, for Mumbai boutique

Mumbai-based Navien Niesaar Designs has designed the Ivy Fashion Boutique, which is a commercial project for children’s clothing. The site came with an existing mezzanine floor, which was later broken down to enhance the spatial and volumetric parameters.
Spread over 40 sq. m., the boutique was divided into three zones that connected the entrance area, sales, business development area, and the back office. A vault-shaped arched ceiling which is decorated with exquisite champagne leafing, welcomes the visitor. Black wooden herringbone-patterned flooring, marble, and rippled wood cladding with geometrically-patterned wallpaper add visual appeal to the design aesthetics. Metal screens inspired by ancient arches are clad with neutral-colored paisley wallpaper on one side and an antique mirror with distressed gold finish on the other. These divide the spaces. False partition walls are designed out of erratic walls for technical services.
Transparent glass with ribbed grey stone, black herringbone-patterned wooden flooring, and high-gloss metallic PU gloss on the ceiling lit with horizontally-designed LED signage is important in the façade. Selected merchandise is displayed in the back office space, and featured on a Greek white marble wall. As the mezzanine is removed, spaces for outdoor air-conditioning machines and waterproofing units are designed near the back office window.
