Organic design for Nashik institute
Nashik-based Studio VSA has designed The Animated Box, an animation institute spread over 3,000 sq ft. The client wanted a free-flowing and user-friendly space for students who pursue animation and design. The on-site area used to be a huge hall that had no internal partitions, with existing columns on either side. The client wanted a cabin that maintained awareness of people visiting the institute, with uncompromised light and ventilation, graphical elements and encouraged student-teacher interaction.
The reception area with a raised wooden platform acts as the central space, which directs the user to the linearly-placed spaces. A white, brown and orange color palette was chosen, and the desk was set against a wooden patterned backdrop. Glass partitions divide spaces into separate zones, such as conference rooms and private areas. A green carpet adds organic elements to the space, further accentuated with exposed ductwork. Biophilic elements and lighting fixtures with black shelves have statues placed on them. There are three distinct elements in the form of lighting, materials and furniture. Classrooms can be folded and partitions removed to create a large interaction space.
