Utilitarian design for Ahmedabad house

Photography: Ashok Patel.

Rajkot-based The Auura Design Studio has designed the Adani Shantigram Villa in Ahmedabad, a villa spread over 5100 sq. ft. Upon entering, one sees an artefact of metal leaves on the wall, a false ceiling with cove lighting and a geometric chandelier in the foyer. The blue-grey color palette is reflected in the sofa, a faux crocodile leather rug and soft floral cushions. Uneven wooden paneling with accent lighting and cove lighting panels illuminates the room, along with the marble and delicate black-and-gold coffee tables.

An island comprises the utilitarian kitchen and dining room, along with stainless steel appliances, marble counters and well-lit storage spaces. Cove light illuminates the space, and minimalistic leaf prints are hung on the wall. A sculpture of Krishna Radha adorns the temple on the ground floor, set against a stone-carved peacock feather in turquoise and indigo. MDF jaali and wooden paneling consist of the mantelpiece, rendering a spiritual space.

The minimally-furnished guest bedroom has simple lines, while the window allows ample natural light. On the other hand, the parents’ bedroom retains the blue-grey palette with a tufted headboard in a monochromatic chevron patterns and storage spaces.

The first floor has the semi-living room, master bedroom and children’s room. The living room is dominated by warm light and a neutral color palette of grey and back. Cove panel and accent lighting illuminate the room, which complements the marble walls and flooring. The first child’s room is dominated by sky-blue along with basic furniture pieces, while the second child’s room features pink and grey with storage spaces.

A geometric hexagonal bookcase resembling a Rubik’s cube is the focal point, along with the hexagonal-patterned bed back wall and abstract mini chandeliers. Wooden flooring, three-dimensional MDF panels and PU polish lends exquisiteness. Halo, cove and accent lighting illuminate the space, along with bright-colored furniture and golden-domed trinkets against the black marble wall.
