Inside-out connection for Ludhiana residence

Photography: Inclined Studio

Ludhiana-based Planet Design & Associates has designed the Ludhiana House, which is a residential project spread over 8400 sq. ft. Located on a prime site and slightly elevated above the neighbours, the compound imparts privacy while taking in the market views through the orientation and window placement. The client wanted a home that was protected from the harsh sunlight and heat yet maintained a connection to the outdoors.

The firm maximised on space planning, natural lighting, room integration, and comfort. Designed for a large family that enjoys social gatherings, there are both private and public spaces inside the villa. A wooden deck at the entrance divides the formal and informal living areas, along with a wooden log sourced from Himachal Pradesh. The home remains connected to nature through floor-to-ceiling windows, which brings in openness and an inside-out connection.

The lobby is linked by glass connectors, lending elegance and intimacy. The dining room has an open view of the backyard and looks out into the kitchen and living area. Both the ground and first floor have two bedrooms with attached washrooms, clad with Italian marble, tile, fabric and veneer.
