Luxury ambience for Lucknow residence

New Delhi-based 42 MM Architecture has designed The French Connection, a three-storeyed residence in Lucknow. Spanning over 14000 sq. ft., the residence comprises a double-height entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen, study rooms, pooja rooms, bedrooms, washrooms and dresser, home theatre, gymnasium, massage and servants’ quarters. As per the client brief, the luxury home should be designed with a classic French style that blends tradition and comfort.

A wrought-iron door with motifs finished in gold leaves which preserves its shine and timelessness. As one enters the entranceway, a light-filled gallery features stone mosaic inlay border, stained glass panels, and ornately-carved consoles. Inspired by ‘dancing leaves’, an exquisite stone rug and glass installation take pride of place in the living room. The leaves oscillate, which recreates the experience of blowing wind through the central lobby.

Symmetrically-placed French doors connect the entrance hall to the formal living room, giving way to an arrangement of velvet indigo-blue armchairs. This directs the visitor’s attention to a large framed antique painting, which is part of the family’s lineage. A gilded crystal chandelier lights up the room with its antiquity, while the furniture in the dining room inclines towards the modern style as opposed to the classic flamboyance of the home.

The bedrooms are designed to reflect an individual’s lifestyle without deviating from the classical design lines, characterized by polished marble floors, decorative ceilings, and carved furniture. Stone, molding, and carving gives the private spaces a palatial appearance reminiscent of a luxury hotel in every way.
