MS pergola for Nagpur home

Nagpur-based Salankar Pashine and Associates has designed the Mranal Residence, a three-storeyed 5BHK residence with a semi-basement and ground floor. Spread over 15,000 sq. ft., the open-plan home has an asymmetrical geometric façade and large windows made of eco-friendly material. The roof is designed with an MS pergola to allow in diffused sunlight and follows the aim to provide each room with light and ventilation.

The semi-basement floor has the servants’ quarters, a security room, parking, and office space for the staff. The office has minimalistic and functional furniture with vitrified tile flooring, ample seating space, and shelves. Coming up to the ground floor, there is a conference room, an overhead projector, and seating for large formal gatherings. The reception and waiting area have a geometric planter wall as the backdrop, with checkerboard coffee tables and simple sofas. The head cabin has a TV wall display and is connected to the ante-chamber that connects the residence.

One enters the home through the staircase, leading up to the first floor. The formal living room has pale brown and cream shades brightened up with sapphire-colored armchairs next to the settee. An eight-seater fining room has décor pieces in the background and is tied together with golden curtains and a large hard-carved peepal leaf motif.

The master bedroom on the first floor is designed in brown, and the bed is on a raised following the rules of Vaastu. Shelves lit with accent lights and a modern painting of toucans give a warm and inviting feel to the room, along with a dressing space with a full-length mirror and shelves. Handwoven linen, towels, and woodwork are carefully chosen. The mother’s bedroom has cream walls with panel lighting, Indian-inspired artwork, and teal-and-brown décor, and high-back formal chairs. Being a room for an elderly lady, there is an attached room for a caretaker. The guest bedroom has neutral walls with blue accents, color-blocked décor, and beige curtains.

Coming to the daughter’s room on the second floor, it has white walls with dragonfly motifs on the duvet and curtains – rendering a rustic charm. The room extends to the second-floor terrace and has white and yellow cove lighting and shelf space on the walls.
