Old Dilli appeal for Bengaluru boutique store and restaurant

New Delhi-based RMDK Architects has designed Anand Sweets in Bengaluru, a boutique store and restaurant that offers customers an indulgent shopping and dining experience. The client wanted the project to be a young, chic, and vibrant space with contemporary interiors. Quirky patterns with modern textures and colors are incorporated into the finishing, lighting, and furniture details.

Spread over 4,800 sq. ft., a color combination of black, white, and gold was chosen for the project. A green wall welcomes visitors at the entrance with a luxe marble-textured frame and backlit golden-toned signage. The main entrance opens into a functional space highlighted with black-and-white chequered flooring, further complemented with a wooden ceiling and chandelier. The wood ceiling rafters are flanked by a series of minimal and curvilinear skeleton arches with glass and matte black metallic members. There is a white marble-textured display counter, which matches the golden-striped wall and minimal floating counters.

One enters the boutique retail entrance marked by black-and-white marble flooring in a zigzag pattern. This is reflected by a chromatic mirror display framed by metal and glass arches with focus lighting. The photochromatic display creates unique views for each customer’s perspective based on their angle, which creates an interactive experience. Minimal geometric wall displays, a mirrored waffle slab ceiling, a backlit mirror, plush furniture, chandelier, and sleek metal finishing in gold retains the boutique’s ultra-modern ambience.

The visitor is welcomed into the restaurant by an artistic poster of ‘Purani Dilli’, a contemporary tale on the nostalgic hustle-bustle of old markets and eateries. Neutral shades highlighted with rough wooden textures and colorful patterned tiles are used for the walls and floor in the dining area. Simple rough wood furniture with minimally-patterned display counters and metallic chandeliers highlight the luxurious appeal of the space.
