Quirky décor for Kanpur diner

New Delhi-based Intaglio Design Studio has designed the Penthouse in Kanpur, which is an all-day diner that instils comfort and security in the user. It is located on the terrace along a busy street and follows a minimalistic tropical design approach spanning 2500 sq. ft. The restaurant uses trending elements, chic furnishings and interior greenery. Much of the area is planned to entertain guests, while service areas are placed towards the rear end.

A stairway with a separate entrance is used by the staff to communicate orders to the kitchen on the first floor, which provides to the offline café on the ground floor. Using effective and simple planning techniques, the diner enables easy commutes by diners and staff alike. One enters through a short foyer that leads to the varied seating options and the stage curated for live performances. It is designed with wooden textures and tropical patterns illuminated by neon lights.

The eatery has different furnishing styles for a seating capacity of 60 diners, including the five warm grey four-seater tables on the left of the stage. Booth seating is crowned by green arches and paired with sheer white curtains, along with a hanging sofa placed under vines and a rustic lamp. The pergola roof is covered with acrylic sheets to prevent rain and dust and resembles a cabana within nature.

Patterned flooring features wooden textures near the booth seating, along with ambient wall-mounted lighting and suspended climbers. The colour palette includes warm grey, pristine white, wood and tropical green.
