Reduced carbon footprint for Munnar hotel

Trivandrum-based Environmental Creations has designed the Elixir Hills in Munnar, which was to design an all-suite resort while preserving the trees to locate the facilities.

Located in an abandoned cardamom plantation between two tea estates, care was taken to retain the natural greenery in this project. A compact design minimizes carbon footprint, as independent villas and cottages would cover an expansive area. The building is planned around a central circulation core that efficiently connects all the rooms and facilities thus reducing the built-up area.

The living rooms have a dedicated dining space, an extra single bed, and a lounge opening into a balcony overlooking the lush rainforest. Spread over 750 sq. ft., the deluxe rooms include a four-poster king-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with modern facilities. The Honeymoon Suite has a king-size bed and jacuzzi, and blends wooden furnishings with natural colors.
