Traditional design for Raigarh bungalow

Photography : Prashant Bhat

Raigarh-based Creations has designed Atulya, a residential bungalow spread over 10,000 sq. ft. The client wanted traditional interiors that displayed India’s cultural history, which was given a contemporary twist by the firm. A vivid color palette of gold, royal blue and red is designed for the home.

Gold pillars welcome the visitor from the foyer to the living room, also demarcating the public and private spaces. The entrance directly to the living spaces, done up in marble flooring, an intricately-carved fireplace, gold-patterned wallpaper and a chandelier. Royal-blue velvet furniture and high-back teal chairs bring the room together. On the other side, a mural of Lord Krishan and Radha in red, blue and green is designed, which is connected to a second seating area. Onyx coffee tables, patterned blue chairs and beige sofas are illuminated with cove lighting.

The large dining table looks over the garden, and the drapery is done in heavy red material that blocks out the sunlight. The master bedroom has vintage pastel-blue armchairs, patterned gold wallpaper and hand-carved ceiling while the second room has a mauve-and-beige palette with a backlit headboard. Marble walls and vanity are set under a ceiling decorated with carved gold detailing, and bronze and golden accent lighting.
