Tranquil family retreat for New Delhi house

New Delhi-based Studio Crypt has designed the IL Marmo, a residence spread over 18,000 sq. ft. The client wanted a tranquil family retreat that connected the indoors with the outdoors with its swimming pools and manicured gardens. The living spaces comprise large lobbies, semi-private zones to the private bedrooms. The double doors open up to the staircase in the double-height foyer, with a patch of shrubbery visually connecting the spaces decorated with bamboo plantations. The circulation leads the visitor into two directions, one leading to the living and the other to a ten-seater dining area.

The living room features brass, stone, 24-carat gold leafing, black granite, pale brass and polished woodwork panels. It looks over the gardens, swimming pool and the outhouse through large glazed window. Persian rugs, a crystal chandelier over the bar counter, ochre mirror walls and brass inlaid-stone walls against the golden backdrop comprise the living room. White cabinets and state-of-the-art fittings in the kitchen are set against the windows on all the three sides with views of the swimming pool.

The bedrooms have balcony desks and walk-inn storage spaces along with handpicked furniture to suit individual tastes. Chandeliers, ceilings and accent floor lamps add warmth to the space at night. Natural daylight filters in through timber-framed glazing, along with timber and suede fabric for the furniture with brass finish. Barring the public spaces, the neutral-colored walls of the house are embellished with metallic wall sculptures.
