Warm color palette for Kolkata home

Photography: Arredatore Design Studio

Kolkata-based Arredatore Design Studio has designed the Hestia, a 4BHK residence on the fortieth floor of an NRI residential complex spread over 2250 sq. ft.

The south-facing apartment has a 25-ft. wide sliding window that overlooks the elevated cityscape, brings in natural sunlight and air. A warm taupe color palette for the space lends a minimalistic look, with mahogany and oak veneer for the furniture. The living area accommodates formal and casual seating with neutral-colored furniture, drapery and artwork from Italy and Spain. An oversized chess sculpture is a major focal point, along with the bar cabinet at one end of the room.

Coming to the dining room, an eight-seater dining table is set against white walls, a handcrafted wooden cabinet and a glass sliding room for visual expansiveness. The open kitchen is bifurcated with a wide glass partition the passage, which visually connects with the bedrooms.

Natural marble and stone make the project functional, sustainable yet aesthetic. White chandeliers and decorative lighting illuminate the space. The master bedrooms, two guest bedrooms and children’s rooms have been left functional with neutral paint, soft furnishings, family photographs and colorful rugs. Automation and advanced technology play a further role in electronic functioning in the apartment.
