New Delhi-based Quirk Studio has designed The Jardin Home in Mumbai, which is a getaway residence for a Gujarat-based family and their bachelor son. The client wanted a minimalistic approach that reflect the home’s modern comfort and elegance. Vaastu was an important factor, which is why the façade is paneled with mirrors and plants are added to the space.

Spread over 2000 sq. ft., the home is done up with shades of blue and green. The color palette exudes calmness and well-being brightened with accent furniture. Large casement windows allow in natural light and radiate it throughout the home.

The home opens into a spacious living room that transitions into the dining area.  A grey sofa, an abstract rug and a teal-blue armchair are the major furniture pieces in the room, bringing in a Zen-like quality. Metal, marble and wood furniture (including coffee tables from Gulmohar) create texture. The chandelier decorated with aqua and golden-colored leaves remains the focal point of the dining room, and the floral wall art of botanical prints and a customized sideboard adds charm to the area. The kitchen is connected to these areas by a sliding door, contributing to the open layout. It has a simple back-painted glass with rose gold cabinet handles, and maximum storage space for optimum functionality.

Two rooms have been merged together to create an expansive master suite thar radiates opulence with its clutter-free interiors. Designed for a young working professional, the walls have a lime plaster finish, a hidden walk-in closet within the paneling and diagonal oak flooring that add warmth to the room. The parents’ room has a brighter appeal with paneling for the bed wall, white rattan furniture and oak flooring. For the guest room, repurposed grey and white furniture paired with neutral tones against the cherry-blossom wallpaper.
