Delhi architects go local to present a global image for Gurugram restaurant

Photographer: Niveditaa Gupta Renesa Architecture Design Interiors used locally available Indian material to create Together at 12th, a 6600 sq ft restaurant at Le Meridien, Gurugram, Haryana. The overlay of Indian teak wood in contrast with Dholpur stone creates a juxtaposition of textures from the ceiling to the walls to the floor, visually softening the project. A wooden lattice creates a symphony as well as a drama in different formats of vertical and horizontal arrangements along with the minimal rose, gold-plated sleek lighting design. In addition to the subtle variety that they provide, the materials act as sound absorbents for the hotel below and add to the aesthetic value of the space through its grain and organic structure.
The entire space integrates the different planes and volumes of the site at the 12th floor of the hotel. The space expresses the work ideology of its young talented chef, Vanshika Bhatia, and experienced bar mixologist, Nitin Tewari. The entrance acts as a transitional space, a narrow passage from the main seating space along with the speak easy arena at the bar. This connects to a private dining room and lounge through an area of exposed concrete overlapped with the wooden slat development to create continuity and harmony to the spatial experience of a visitor. Beyond the entrance is the magnitude of the room in which the restaurant expands as tables open up to a terrace space flooded with natural light parallel to the huge expanse of the bar.
