Sandstone facade for Lucknow jewellery store

New Delhi-based RMDK has designed the HSJ, which was to conceive a retail store for the jewelry store’s pieces. Spread over 10,000 sq. ft., the retail space is spread over two levels. The ground floor is reserved for gold, while the upper level sells diamond and silver. A partial basement has been created on a 2.5 m. drop in the ground, which appears as a stilted ground level at the entrance facilitating parking and entrance lobby.

The solid sandstone façade makes a bold statement with a gold steel detailing surface. One enters, welcomed by a 30 ft.-high detailed glass door. It opens into a reception area with a customized elliptical red glass elevator adjacent to the spiral staircase. The corridor to the elevator has been arranged with colorful floor inlays inspired by traditional Meenakari craft. The same design has been replicated on the roof, reflecting the brand’s eclectic design style.

The furniture and chandeliers have been detailed to resemble installations that reflect the essence of the exhibits. Customized lighting elevates the product range in the respective zones. The color palette of the furniture complements the displays; strong tones are softened with neutral shades such as charcoal and deep brown to create articulate spaces.

The Boutique Gold section features a predominant use of red, with a 40’ by 40’ hand-painted ceiling lending a theatrical touch to the space. Each display is designed to resemble an antique maestro painting which adds to opulence. The semi-precious stone counters, the bull’s eye arch display and the white origami floral display make a statement. The retail space is a lavish blend of traditional and contemporary design that embodies the concept of ‘where art meets luxury’.
