Ultramodern aesthetics for Gurugram home

Gurugram-based Studio Arc.Hive and Sage Haus has designed The Ivy Nest, which is a 4BHK apartment project situated in an ultramodern context. Spanning 3500 sq. ft., it receives sufficient daylight, ventilation and panoramic cityscape views. The client wanted a simple, intelligent and functional space that reflects the family’s sophisticated and global outlook while also meeting their practical needs. Interiors use lime-washed walls, oakwood flooring, linen fabric, bespoke carpentry and timeless furniture and art. A neutral colour palette complements the greens and blues in the soft furnishings and art pieces, creating a relaxed and inviting aesthetic.

The entrance opens up to the foyer, which has an in-built multifunctional unit with seating and ample storage. The storage unit is lined with rattan inlay that contrasts its whiteness, and the multi-levelled ceiling with different finishes adds character. The living room uses clean lines, wall panelling and warm oak veneer. Furniture and furnishings feature prints, textures and colours that exude warmth. This opens up to the dining room, which uses the same lime plaster texture offering an earthy ambience to the space.

The corridor becomes the spine of the entire house, connecting all the spaces together. The white PU finish on the dado and the earthy lime plaster finish on the walls represent the home’s identity, visually expanding the narrow passageway to make it more welcoming. The den is a seamless extension of the living room, and is designed as a cosy nook to entertain small groups of friends.

Inspired by the client’s art and travel book collection, bookshelves become the backdrop for the seating arrangements. Inlaid wallpaper, parquet wooden flooring, the oversized sofa, a rustic trunk leather table and a hand-knotted Persian rug lend familiar warmth.

A natural oak-finished four-poster king-size bed blends in with the olive-green bed-back wall panelling in the master bedroom. The room also has a storage cabinet and a study table to become a study corner.
