Nature-inspired textures for Thane home

Photography: Rahul Pawar

Mumbai-based Solids and Voids, by Ar. Manjusha Adhav-Kamble has designed the Shetty’s home, a 2BHK residence inspired by natural colors and textures within a specified budget. Measuring 850 sq. ft., the project was built on-site in 75 days and the internal walls are retained without any changes.

A combination of Art Deco and mid—century modern design styles, handmade craftsmanship suits the nature of the space with non-toxic paint. The living room has white PU-coated furniture, complementing a Greek motif in MDF. A polished matte veneer finish is applied on selected furniture units and doors that symbolize tree trunk grains.

A leaf-green and brown scheme is chosen for the master bedroom, the latter achieved by a dark cork-finished laminate. The bed has a floating appearance to increase the visual expanse of the restricted space, and the sheer curtains add fluidity along the geometric form of the bedroom. The teen daughter’s bedroom has tones of the seas and skies emphasizing infinity set against a feather pen wallpaper behind the bed to display her writing skills.
