Earthy ambience for Gurugram home

Gurugram-based Homework Design Studio has designed the Sector 10 Home, which is a residence spanning 1500 sq. ft. The family bungalow had a top floor that was always rented out, which was converted into a part of the home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Windows are replaced with sliding doors and white profiles to invite in natural light and openness, and the brick is retained. The study room is converted into a home office, with a desk and a comfortable corner to relax overlooking the green spaces.

The living and dining spaces and the kitchenette are suited for entertainment, which is why the firm used customised furniture. While the formal living room only seats four people, the dining room seats up to eight people. French doors extend beyond the living room area, which complements the large balcony with floor tiles. The kitchenette remains light and earthy, which a special focus on storing basic necessities and making coffee.

A light-grey brick wall with wooden elements is chosen for the master bedroom’s media wall, and the study unit has self-print wallpaper behind the bed. An earthy rattan-finished bed is chosen for the bed in the guest bedroom, and the bathrooms have Indian-patterned flooring with red stone accents. Direct, indirect and accent lighting makes the space stand out. Photographs taken by the client adorn the walls.
