Architects Work From Home: Ar. Raaghav explores the new normal

“I would strongly recommend young professionals to read and use this time to sharpen their skills on digital platforms and contribute to a positive creation – an artwork, a poem or handicraft.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the architecture and design industry and has resulted in a delay in ongoing and future projects. No sourcing of materials, no physical inspection and missed project deadlines in many cases have incurred huge losses. Today, we share the insights of Ar. Raaghav, A Plus R Architects, Coimbatore.

“Though the quarantine period has affected the office productivity, we try and work from home. The construction industry is run by the migrant workers, but they do not have the necessities to return home. We cater to them with shelter and food, as it’s the least that we could do. We have our offices across India, starting from Delhi, Vishakhapatnam, Mumbai and Madurai. As we are working on a virtual platform, we have to supply drawings to our international clients.”

“I enjoy upgrading myself with new technologies, software and platform and testing my capabilities. I would strongly recommend young professionals to read and use this time to sharpen their skills on digital platforms, whether it’s architecture or business. I urge everyone at home and use the break and contribute to a positive creation – an artwork, a poem or handicraft.”

“We have consumed three times of information during the lockdown as compared to regular workdays. For example, I have seen how the coronavirus has united all of us despite our differences in language and religion. Also, I have come across some amazing projects across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Egypt that are quite inspiring as they focus on providing simple solutions to significant problems.”
