Ahmedabad-based Compartments4 has designed the Oatmeal House, which is a residential project spanning 1400 sq. ft. One finds clean aesthetics, natural light, and functionality in the design with a modern interpretation of craftsmanship using wood and cane. They enter through the foyer into the family room with lavender geometric patterns connecting the two spaces, with a teak and cane sliding door. The formal living room converts into an extra bedroom with the sofa doubling as a bed, adding the additional requirement of 200 sq. ft. over the existing space.

The open layout allows the family room to open towards the dining area, kitchen, and balcony. Embracing simplicity, functionality, and individuality, bedrooms balance modern urban living and timeless design. One finds the same teak and cane material palette in the master bedroom for a warm and contemporary flair, adding texture and warmth. Pale pink combined with earthy wooden tones and perforated metal sheets are used in the daughter’s bedroom for a lively space, complete with a platform bed at the window and full-height wardrobes.

Customized headboards with clean lines and ample storage give a unique yet cohesive identity to each bedroom. Pastel-coloured tiles are laid out as a rug, also reflected in the curtain art pieces and fabric of the upholstery against the oatmeal beige background.
