Brushed gold flower-petal-inspired mirrors for New Delhi makeup studio

New Delhi-based Bora Da Design has designed The Contoured Arches, also known as Makeup by Jasneet, an upmarket makeup studio. The client wanted an offbeat and sophisticated that reflected her art, whose interiors translated makeup trends, colours and techniques. The team started the project with brainstorming over makeup and its empowering impact on women today.

The logo is in the form of flower petals, done in bright colours with a hint of shimmering gold. This is incorporated into the project’s main feature, which are the wall mirror frames. The frames are set at different heights to give an impression of flower petals, with clear mirrors at the floors backed with antique-mirrored mirrors at the back.

Makeup stalls line against the length of the room, one for the junior artists and one exclusively for the head artist with adequate storage and plug points. Arched mirrors in brushed gold finish demarcate the stalls while creating a ‘flower-petal’ effect. A bright red lip-shaped sofa, a lounge armchair and tables make up the seating space with a cream-textured photoshoot wall.

Natural light is a priority to help understand the colours better, with strategically-placed posts to prevent glare and dark spots. On the ceiling, a cove in the centre displays chandeliers in round cut-outs. The makeup stalls are done in powder-blue with golden highlights at the bottom. Black chairs are chosen for practical reasons and the flooring is a contrast of diagonal black and white terrazzo tiles.
