PK Das and Associates, in association with Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and INTACH, Mumbai, India, replanned and decluttered the iconic Gateway of India precinct and its disparate structures.

The redesigned precinct extended the plaza and relocated the activities at the farther end, reorganized to skirt the rear end of the central garden. This gives the historic monument breathing space in front and provides visitors with a panoramic view of the monument, the sea and other landmark structures and statues around. The plan also organized commercial and other activities at one location to ensure they did not encroach upon the plaza and clutter it.

The cohesive design now holds together all the activities at the plaza.
