Decoupaged stacked-book facade for Bengaluru lounge-and-bar

Bengaluru-based design firm FADD Studio has designed the Sotally Tober, a chain of lounge-and-bar establishments. The client brief was to repeat the quirky concept – for example, the first edition featured drip-painted interiors and colour blocks for furniture – signifying a love for art.

The present design displayed a façade adorned with stacked books with cheekily-altered tiles, and walls covered with cream-colored pages and stains. Decoupaged vintage dictionaries on the walls symbolize writing as the highlighting point. Delicate grills on the grills offer a strong industrial optic that slowly fades away and protects the decoupage and lighthearted phrases lit up in neon. Simple illustrations are handpainted behind each metal arch as if the reader had doodled the caricatures.

Huge reclaimed beams enhance the old-world charm already imparted by the walls and monochromatic décor with black mesh, brick walls, and white lights. The island bar separates the indoor and outdoor areas yet remain the centerpiece with its bold black metal framework. Simple distressed wooden furniture complements the woven bistro chairs while pattern tiles and wood tiles make up the flooring.
