Minimal design for Mumbai apartment

Mumbai-based Studio SPlace has designed the Shetty House, which is an apartment project spanning 750 sq. ft. on a tight budget. The firm initially found the site to be a chaotic, dark, and cluttered space with disproportionate furniture. However, the client now wanted a cleaner and more organized space that hosted large gatherings for occasional dinners. This also included minimal furniture that could be easily moved around and used as per their requirement, resulting in ample storage in a brighter room.

Built for a working couple, they wanted a working desk, storage, and clutter-free spaces after the lockdown. The home follows a wooden and grey tone with greenery and white walls for a larger, open, and cleaner ambiance. Living and dining spaces are planned to host larger groups with minimal furniture and extended seating space at the window, and the latter has a small coffee station and crockery storage. A temple with perforated jaali shutters and a television unit made of mild steel bars and wooden shelves blend in with the surroundings.

The kitchen has grey laminate and Moroccan dado tiles for a sleek look while maintaining brightness and color. The master bedroom followed the same white and wooden palette for warmth and calmness, with minimal furniture. For the guest bedroom, the firm chose a day bed with a study table and library made of mild steel.
