Recycled pinewood for Gurgaon studio

Photographer: Rohan Dayal

New Delhi-based architecture and design firm Sync Design Studio has designed a holistic spatial experience for visitors to the Design Studio in Gurgaon. Located in a commercial building and spanning over 400 sq. ft., the space is imbued with warm colors, earthy textures and glazing on the northeast and southeast facades.

A workplace, the layout has been planned as seamless and open. The attached terrace on the northern face serves as a breakout area which keeps it ventilated and full of natural daylight to keep the atmosphere refreshed. Planters in the balcony enhance the visual aspect and complement the monsoon views.

Locally-sourced Indian wood has been carved into live-edge handcrafted furniture. Pinewood from wooden crates has reused to clad some of the ceiling and ledge seating in front of the glazing. Partitions in the bookshelf with different configurations aid in keeping books of different sizes, artwork, and curios. There is a floating mild steel frame suspended from the ceiling which acts as a custom-built chandelier. Mild steel metal grid is further used to display work charts, schedules, keys and other knick-knacks on the wall. Customized furniture has been designed for space optimization, adding a personalized vibe.
