Resort ambience for Vadodara residence

Mumbai-based ADND has designed The Resort House in Vadodara, which is a set of twin houses connected by a common central block. The client wanted the ambience of living in a resort fulltime, spread on a sprawling plot of 4 lakh sq. ft. They need a separate structure that was to be referred as a clubhouse, along with pitched sloping roofs connecting corridor with a flat roof reflecting a modern minimalistic language.
The house itself is spread over 50,000 sq. ft., which focuses on simplicity, spaciousness and sheer scale. While the twin houses have individual entrances, the main entry point is through the central formal block. A tree-lined driveway brings the visitor to the formal living block, and a wooden bridge over an expansive shallow lotus pond drops them off at the main entrance.
Moving in, the formal living block is a double-height glass pavilion overlooking the central lawn. A stepped sloping wooden ceiling with modern bronze chandeliers illuminate the space, along with large sliding glazed windows. On the garden side, the living room enjoys generous shaded verandah space. Glass-lined corridors on either side of the formal central block connect the block with individual houses, with floor-to-ceiling veneer panelling and screens finished in metallic Duco.
The individual houses are planned as C-shaped blocks arranged around a family garden, with enclosed glass-edged corridors running along the periphery. The pooja room is a semi-detached flanked by shallow water bodies on either side that establish a sense of continuity. Located at either end are two master bedroom suites visually connected by the living, dining and kitchen spaces. Each master bedroom has its own lounge, private study, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. They enjoy access to a shaded verandah that overlooks a private garden, all of which are distinctive in terms of flooring, wall finish, artwork and accessories. The bathroom has a built-in Jacuzzi that opens out to a walled-in open-to-sky landscaped court and outdoor shower.
Apart from the twin guest bedrooms, the homes have a family library and study room. The service corridors connect the central formal block, such as the central kitchen, pantry, storeroom, cleaning room, washing room and servant quarters.
