Space optimization for Dahod home

Dahod-based DIB Collaborative has renovated the Dar-ul-Shukr, which is a 2BHK apartment blending Islamic and Indo-Chinese interiors. It accommodates a family of six within the bustling neighborhood and intricate geometric design and balances space utilization and aesthetic appeal. One is welcomed by classical-themed double doors finished in ebony black PU paint, and the corridor leads residents toward the living space and kitchen. The floor has a tile pattern that integrates Islamic geometry and wall paneling, which conceals common toilets and bedrooms.

The living area blends elegance and functionality with green sofas and armchairs complementing wooden frames and handwoven rattan jaalis between a false ceiling with Islamic influence. A yellow accent wall accentuates the space’s vibrance and complements antique wooden columns sourced from a century-old traditional Bohra haveli enhancing the room’s cultural aspect. The open kitchen is strategically and visually connected through a screening partition, featuring blue and pearl-white picket-shaped wall tiles for depth. A folding dining table is tucked within a tall multifunctional closet, ensuring style and practicality.

Ribbed glass sliding doors unite the formal and informal living spaces, adapting to the residents’ needs. The front bedroom exudes vintage charm with white and green walls, wooden flooring, and black furniture with golden accents. The bed and wardrobe shutters are partially done in jute fabric with black panels. The second bedroom is inspired by Japandi aesthetics with Mount Fuji wallpaper, a snow-white wardrobe with shutters in jute fabric, and wooden battens. A study desk with a customized lighting fixture and a full-height mirror alongside a long console for extra storage and seating. Wooden veneer paneling is used behind the bed and around the console and study desk.
