Twin design for Ghaziabad home

New Delhi-based Discover Patterns has designed the Twin House, which is a residential project spanning 2200 sq. ft. in Ghaziabad. Located on the tenth floor of a housing society, the client wanted to combine a set of mirrored 2 BHK apartments into a single house for a family of six. The family also included their twin daughters, hence the name, and they wanted an uncluttered and functional home. The firm’s main challenge was to break the monotony of the two apartments after demolishing the central wall, as the house had a long corridor connecting the bedrooms on both sides.

To achieve aesthetics and functionality, the Twin House is designed with minimalist lines, simple shapes, and neutral colors. Curves and softened edges are a major design element to create safer spaces for the children, and smooth arches create an easy and relaxed ambiance for the walls, furniture, and lighting. The home is designed to situate the public spaces at the center, while the private spaces are at both ends. By doing so, the layout remains flexible and uncluttered with sleek furniture and earthy-coloured fabrics. Alternate semi-circular arches break the monotony of the corridor, while vaulted roofs in the living and dining areas add additional volume and height.
