Vaastu incorporated into Bengaluru residence
Bengaluru-based architecture and design Alex Jacob Architects designed the Vijayan Residence, which promotes the connection between the environment and one’s identity. The client wanted a design that complied with Vaastu principles and enhanced the sloping landscape. The firm turned the seemingly tough challenges to its strengths and developed a structure that spelled communal yet private living in harmony with nature.
The 13,000 sq ft residence comprises two blocks that are linked by a large water body and a glass bridge, with gardens on both sides. The sequential use of water and landscape thus blends in the indoor and outdoor spaces, while maximizing natural ventilation and privacy. The central veranda running along the east-west axis is a family space and enhances the intimacy within the residents.
