Contemporary statement pieces for Mumbai home

Mumbai-based Quirk Studio has designed the Garden Six, which is a residential project spanning 3000 sq. ft. The home is designed for an elderly couple and their family and offers solace and peace through scenic views and natural light from the eleventh floor. It is located in one of the greenest corners near the old Parsi Colony, and the client wanted a contemporary home with English countryside accents. Upon entering, the passage becomes the home’s circulation spine. It connects the living room, dining area, kitchen, study, master bedroom and guest bedroom. Following a neutral color palette, the project uses natural stone, wood, cane, and linen.

The expansive living room has statement furniture pieces tied together with grey walls and pristine white Bianco Esilla flooring from Classic Marble Company. A curated pair of sofas and Chandigarh chairs in a light oakwood finish are placed. A sage green ombre and a blue art piece are perched on the paneled wall, and a pair of lounge chairs in black and white pinstripes sit opposite a grey console. Ombre murals are created by artist Nimrat Narang, and the pieces are designed on the concept of yin and yang.

Located between windows on two sides, the dining table is connected to the living room through a pseudo three-centred arch adding to the neoclassical appeal. A minimalist white marble table top sits on fluted oakwood legs, paired with grey dining chairs. The area is connected to the kitchen through a sliding partition in fluted glass, and the skyline views remain the showstopper here. Arches become the motif for the home as they line the central corridor, and the paneled passage is lined with black and white art frames on one side.

The master bedroom has all-white décor with grey furniture pieces, wall paneling, a wardrobe, and an ottoman. The bathroom uses white marble on all surfaces, with a cast-in-situ basin counter on a wooden cabinet with golden accents. The guest bedroom uses, wooden herringbone flooring, a bed frame, and side tables. A pair of watercolor paintings add life and color, with a balcony with deck wood flooring and outdoor furniture. The study room uses warm oakwood furniture and herringbone-patterned floor, and the powder room uses beige and black marble.
