Gurugram-based architecture and design firm consultancy ‘ivpartners’ has designed the PVR Cinemas Hall for L&T Metro Mall in Hyderabad. The client brief was to design a space that made synergy with the city’s fame as a technological center, along with creating an eclectic street style integrated seamlessly with the facility. Spanning across 37550 sq ft, the project started with a series of sketches and soundbars inspired by sound technology.

The entire structure was designed in a low-height linear space with large columns paneled keeping with the soundbar concept with infinite effect lighting. The foyer included food kiosks and a concession space comprising a wooden canopy with cove lights and fascia lights with narrow stone slits. It connects the eight auditoriums while the soft beige color palette accented with deep burgundy-wine gives a deep characteristic. The dark-brown and light-beige Italian marble flooring and ceiling have been accentuated in a barcode pattern. High-gloss dark wood laminate doors accented with copper, mirrors with stainless steel inlay provide a sophisticated ambiance.

The custom-made chandelier suspensions in woven copper chains in long-linear recesses, alternate with embedded downlight in coves and linear light alcoves. The glazed entrance has linear marble seats along the walls with houndstooth fabric-textured wallpaper and metallic copper elements. The auditorium is lit up with LED light patterned in geometric forms. The red color palette and carpeted flooring with interlocking circular patterns give the feel of a classic theatre. The playhouse auditorium is designed for children, with cartoon animations, tube slides, swing seats and eight screens with 4k resolution, sound, and 3D functionality.

The dark-brown-and-cream themed washrooms have glass mosaic in copper metallic and black. The red seating gives a sense of luxury to the space, while the low-height counter space makes it equally functional for children.
