The architects embrace and enhance the originality of an old mill to build a contemporary four-star hotel

Located on the banks of the River Sava, Graft architects transformed an old mill into a four star hotel. The overall concept sought to fuse the building’s local heritage character and contemporary interior design into a singular whole.
Creating a unique visual experience, the hotel’s reception, lobby, and a bar and restaurant is located inside the existing complex. A newly built high-rise accommodates guest rooms and suites, as well as the spa, fitness and service areas. The interior of the lobby was designed while retaining its industrial, open and authentic atmosphere.

Bricks from the old structure were cleaned, repaired and re-integrated into the design, while the backdrop of the reception counter was made from old machines.

The earthy character of the mill complex gradually shifts into a more private and soft environment in the guest rooms. Materials like stone and metal are replaced by wood and textiles, generating a cozy and comforting quality.

The project ensures that the spirit of the Old Mill lives on in modern attire to become a new local landmark.
