Open plan counters limited height in Mumbai office

Mumbai-based Alcove Designs has designed the Sterlite Power, a commercial project spanning 6000 sq .ft. The client wanted a world-class office that makes a brand statement as per the company’s image, yet complies with new-generation workspace challenges and expectations. The firm was to build the space with a low-height existing slab while maintaining volume. Hence, the space is designed as an art gallery that talks about the company’s impact on society through its mission and vision.

Black powder-coated metal art is inspired by the transmission tower’s co-relation with the brand and its products. Height-adjustable workstations in a hot desk concept maintain their cultural and ergonomic needs, with no assigned space for an individual. Work desks are of the same size with the same facilities, fostering inter and intra-departmental interaction. It also eradicates hierarchical discrimination to promote collaborative work.

Enclosed meeting rooms and swing cabins are increased for confidential work, thus maintaining complete privacy. The cafeteria is designed as a community table with warm wooden finishes for homely team gatherings. The main office is designed as an open ceiling concept with hanging lights to counter the limited height. Air-conditioning ducts are pre-planned as per location and engineered as elliptical ducts to counter the height.
