Pichwai artwork for Raipur home

Raipur-based Azure Interiors has designed the Residential Bungalow, a residence spread over 6500 sq. ft. The client wanted the traditional elements to let untouched, so the firm work upon the modern interiors of the two-storeyed bungalow and its existing sloped roof façade.

One enters the double-height living room from the entrance, which featured LED strips and beige marble cladding. Sleek white sofas and maroon armchairs are paired with a heavy-duty geometrical brass centre table with fish-skin detailing. The pichwai artwork of Lord Balaji hangs over the mirror-clad wall, which remains the focal point of the space. Neutral colours are inspired by the sixty-year-old painting, which is illuminated by a crystal and brass chandelier.

The extended dining space has a eight-seater dining table and customised brass and veneer bookshelf, and the French windows overlook the black marble and brass fountain outside. A delicate brass, marble and veneer staircase leading up to the upper floor; the veneer-clad wall camouflages the home theatre and powder room. The home theatre has European-themed walls, with leather sofas and yellow chairs for seating.

The master bedroom features suede and a padded bed with a curved veneer back, complete with s storage wardrobe camouflaged with an oak veneer wall. Marble cladding with intricate patterns on the bed back are created by onsite Rajasthani artists, which elevate the space’s design quotient. The compact bathroom has adjustable glass partitions, Lady Grey Italian marble, for added spaciousness.
