Furniture is a product of the culture and region that people identify with, which shapes their attitude towards such necessities. For instance, people called for functional furniture made of ‘space-age’ material in 1960s America. As people would sit on the floor in most Asian countries, they emphasize ergonomic furniture designs. Some view furniture as purely aesthetic, while others deem it as a form or practice. Culturally speaking, furniture design reflects the identity, values, and innovation that are connected to local culture.

Maison Du Luxe is well-known for combining regional and cultural variations in their furniture design, such as the ‘Nurture’ armchair. Made of teakwood, the chair signifies royalty with Italian floral upholstery in a neoclassical design. An ergonomic form, the curves have a black hammer and the blue velvet resembles a movie set from the 1800s. Delicate yellow, navy blue, and violet flowers form an abstract print on the white background, giving it an aesthetic value.

The Origami console stays true to its Japanese roots with its utilitarian materials made of durable teak wood and brown leather. Its ridges give an industrial look and can adapt itself into Scandinavian or Americano-styled rooms as a bar cart and buffet table for family gatherings. The Nicole cabinet follows the Middle Eastern furniture styles, traditionally used to store fine clothing, weapons, and valuables. It draws inspiration from neoclassical furniture, which is blended with the traditional Omani furniture.

One can see a cultural change reflected in furniture and design, which remains a timeless necessity at home. Investing in a few key pieces ensures longevity to a home, and maintains good family relations.
