Bright accents in a muted design palette for Mumbai residence

Photographer: Kuber Shah

Mumbai-based Quirk Studio has designed The Fluid Home, a residential project spread over 1,500 sq. ft, for a nuclear family. The client wanted a warm and modern design, which is why the home is designed to let in natural light and features a pastel palette.

Opening into the foyer, grey walls synchronize with the wooden false ceiling in the living room. A green sofa and blue rug add drama to the neutral palette, further accentuated by minimalist furniture. Brass lighting fixtures in a modern industrial style light up the room, which connects modern and classical sensibilities. An open kitchen is separated from the living space by a large sliding door, or a moving wall made with 3D MDF tiles and grey-textured IPS. A marble breakfast counter adds texture and a luxurious aesthetic to the kitchen.

A minimalist grey bed is set against the salmon-pink interiors of the master bedroom, illuminated with brass pendant lighting. A fishbone-patterned parquet flooring, ornamental and recessed lighting and a subdued color palette repeat across the space. While the master bedroom is done up in grey and warm wood, the guest room features baby-pink tiles and light grey flooring.
