New Delhi-based Studio Archohm has designed the Pratibha Jain Residence, which is a residential and commercial project. Designed for a lawyer couple, the home reflects modern living and a harmonious work-life balance. Space utilization is a major element of the project, where the lower ground floor welcomes visitors to a formal living area, a dining space, and an office. The ground and mezzanine levels house the informal living spaces, the kitchen, and the bedrooms. The upper floors have an office with an independent driveway, a full-length indoor swimming pool, and a home theatre.

Upon entering, the empty porch is conceived as an intimate courtyard with sandstone cladding and greenery. Red Mandana sandstone contrasts with the existing Dholpur sandstone, creating a buffer zone between the home and the city. The foyer features golden accents on grey walls, along with glass to insulate light and sound. With the intelligent use of space, the firm transformed underutilized volumes into an elaborate dressing room and a domestic staff’s private space.

Simple neutral grey colors the space to create lightness and serenity, with a double-height concrete wall in the living room. This is bathed in natural light coming in through tall glass doors to add warmth and vitality, and large windows in the children’s room bring in abundant natural light. The informal private pool, connected to the home theatre, mirrors the residents’ playful nature. The office follows an open-plan layout, bathed in natural light and surrounded by lush green views. The central core houses meeting rooms and service areas, allowing the workspace to breathe freely.
