Soothing pastels for Pune clinic

Photography: Varun Shingwekar

Pune-based ARTis Interior Design has designed the Clinic, which is a cardio clinic spanning 700 sq. ft. nestled between two renowned hospitals. The firm received a bare shell and open layout with a detailed brief and requirements, which helped in thoughtfully placing the cabins, machines, and emergency passageways. One is greeted by a bright entrance that softens once the patient enters the interiors, with two receptions for welcoming and reports and drug dispensaries. Two consultation cabins are reserved for the doctors with one check-up room, one pantry, one common washroom, and one washroom for the staff.

The space is planned considering the circulation needed for an emergency stretcher in the clinic, which is why the doors are designed to slide open and close 180 degrees. This creates sufficient space for all three interconnected cabins to open up and become a large space. The consultation tables are foldable to make space for the emergency bed, with sliding curtains allowing patients to change and nurse babies. The reception area has fixed seating with loose chairs, allowing spaces to connect and expand.

Due to the limited natural light, the firm used glass to open out the spaces. A muted color palette maintains calmness and relaxation with grey walls, bright white ceilings, ambient lighting, and linear patterns. Wooden Venetian laminates and blinds add visual interest, along with pastel abstract paintings, monochromatic walls, and pastel furnishings. Textured glass is used for doors and partitions with wooden blinds maintaining privacy. Fluted glass panels on doors maintain seamless language, and careful planning ensures spaciousness.
